Tiago Pinho Executive MBA
Dynamic Industrial Manager Driving Innovation and Leadership in the Cork Industry
Tiago is an Industrial Manager with 15+ years of experience leading and training high-performing teams in Amorim's most significant cork manufacturing site's operations, maintenance, planning, and process engineering departments. He oversees the company’s most lucrative product, a 100% natural cork stopper. Alongside his responsibilities leading 300+ personnel, he is pursuing the Executive MBA at Porto Business School, where he is learning how to re-examine business activities from a 360-degree perspective, strengthening strategical analysis capabilities, together with a deeper notion of innovation and intrapreneurship.
Amorim is a historic Portuguese company with a top-down hierarchy. Tiago implements the lessons he gained from the Executive MBA to cultivate camaraderie and collaboration among his staff and reimagine previously overly regimented workflows. He encourages his team to think beyond immediate order fulfilment, identify process improvements, and use their previously untapped creative skills.
Before making a career change into the cork industry, he was previously a Civil Engineer who oversaw major construction projects, notably several metro stations in Porto and a massive bridge Guinea-Bissau. He dove into the bridge project without much research or previous context, and it was a major success.
Exposure to his classmates’ different ways of solving problems and his existing expertise in continuous improvement, negotiation, contract management, and seizing value-adding opportunities have positioned him to significantly impact the industrial settings, embedding transformative innovation across all its activities.
